Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Shanghai Shenhua forward, Odion Ighalo has dedicated his lone strike that ensured Nigeria’s victory over Burundi at the current Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON in Egypt to the Almighty God.
Speaking after the gruelling encounter, Ighalo said the goal could not have come if God had not made it possible for him to net it.
He also attributed the lone strike to to hard work, saying “even if I am playing with my kids, I want to win. I am a hard worker, I give my best. Sometimes it might not be enough but when I play a game, I put everything in me into it to ensure victory. I will continue working hard till I hang my boots. This is my life and job. I don’t have any other job apart from football, so I have to give it my all.”
Ighalo said that his children are looking up to him; so he has to give a good example.
He advised soccer followers not to believe in all the hype on social media noting that whoever does not work hard cannot get any good result.
The Super Eagles forward said he would not allow what people are saying to get into his head. Rather he is focused on the greater days ahead.
