Recently, three Nigerian travelers returning from England, France and China were suspected of carrying the coronavirus known as COVID-19. Fortunately, the Lagos Commissioner released a statement to notify the public that they have tested negative. The 3 patients underwent testing at a Lagos isolation centre in Yaba.
This brings the number of cases in Nigeria to remain at 1 – the case of the Italian citizen who came to Nigeria on business. His status is currently unknown as the last news received was his convalescence at a hospital in Lagos. Unfortunately, efforts to trace about 93 individuals who had contact with him on the same Turkish airline flight have been futile. The persons that were located are currently being monitored until the incubation period elapses.
Airports remain on high alert and screening of incoming travelers continue.
