The NFF has confirmed the extension of the Nigerian Men’s Football team coach, Gernot Rohr. He is to remain as coach till the end of the 2022 World Cup. “I’m happy to announce that the NFF and Coach Gernot Rohr have concluded all contractual discussions and he will stay on as Coach of the Super Eagles. We have always had confidence in his abilities and we are confident that the national team can only go higher from here.” says the President of the NFF, Pinnick Amaju.

Contractual negotiations had been underway for the several months, with his contract set to expire in June 2020. News of the terms put forth by the Federation included payment in local currency, 10 month residency in Nigeria out of a year and more recruitment from local leagues.

Rohr took charge of the Super Eagles in 2016, taking them to the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, where they came third.
