The President, Women in Aviation, Nigeria Chapter, Mrs. Rejoice Ndudinachi says showcasing career role models is a powerful tool in helping people to see the options life can offer.
Speaking at this year’s Women in Aviation Annual Conference held in Abuja, Mrs. Ndudinachi stated that one of the objectives of Women in Aviation Nigeria Chapter is to encourage the young ones to build up their future in aviation, adding that the group pledges to pursue this objective vigorously with all its resources.
She emphasized that the group’s belief in catching them young, they will contribute immensely to the advancement of this very dynamic industry and the society in general.
“We have organized series of activities to help the young ones, most recently, the Nigerian Girls in Aviation Day which is usually held every year”. The President of WAI said.
She said further: It is a whole day event that features tour of airport facilities including forecast office, aircraft familiarization, etc. The prospective young aviators were also exposed to a lot of hands-on activities in the various aviation endeavors. Today we have about 18 aviation clubs in various schools”.
The theme of this year’s Conference is the same as last year ‘I am WAI
NIGERIA: Connect, Engage and Inspire’
MRS Ndudinachi noted that as an organization, members reach out to schools to sensitize students about carrier opportunities in aviation, thereby preparing them for better carrier choices. “Knowledge is power”, she said.
She added: “We also give special gifts to outstanding children; this we believe will inspire them to pursue careers in the Aviation Industry”. In the last four years we have honoured Nigerian Female Pilots and last two years we honoured meteorologist, air traffic controllers, last three years we honored Nigerian Female Mechanics, Airline Managers, Met Managers,
and MD/CEOs etc as role models for our children to emulate. Today we will honor outstanding female General Managers, female Airport
Managers and aviation philanthropist. We hope this will inspire others to consider the various careers they have excelled in”.
While soliciting the unflinching support of all to enable the organization to reach it goals to effectively CONNECT, ENGAGE and INSPIRE the next generation, the WAI President thanked its partners for their support over the years.
